Prof. Mikhailidis’s clinical interest is vascular disease prevention, and his research interests are dyslipidaemias and thrombosis. He is a former Wellcome Trust fellow and has supervised 15 doctoral students.
He is a member of the Vascular Medicine Section council, Royal Society of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath), Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FFPM) and Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology (FCP). He is a Foreign Member of the Slovenian and the Serbian Academies of Medicine.

Under Mikhailidis D, he has 1,297 entries on PubMed and under Mikhailidis D*, 32,312 citations listed in the Clarivate Web of Science index, Core Collection (H-index = 80). He has been cited by 18,927 publications where he is not an author. He is editor-in-chief of several journals (impact factor up to 3.0) He is ranked as number 1 in the world in the field of lipid lowering drugs (http://expertscape.com/ex/hypolipidemic+agents). He is also listed among the top 1% most cited authors in Pharmacology and Toxicology on the Clarivate Web of Science (2018) and across all fields (2019). He has lectured in 52 countries.

He has participated in several guideline and international evaluation committees. He is a former member of the nucleus group for peripheral arterial disease, European Society of Cardiology and was the lead for the Prevention Section of the European Society of Vascular Surgery Guidelines for the Management of Carotid Artery Disease, 2010.

He was the former Academic Head, in the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, University College London Medical School, University College London (UCL). He continues with academic duties after partial retirement. He also is Adjunct Professor of Medicine, Mohammed Ben Rashid University, Dubai.

Dr. Waleed Al Dahi is an American Board certified Internist who graduated from the University of British Colombia Canada specializing in Endocrinology. He gained his Fellowship training from the RCP of Canada, RCP of Edinburgh, and Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard University.
He is currently working as the Head of Diabetes & Endocrine Unit in Mubarak Hospital in Kuwait. He is also a visiting Consultant at Ahmadi Hospital and a clinical tutor at the KIMS – Faculty of Medicine.

Al Dahi is the President of the Kuwait Diabetes Society and the Program Director of Kuwait Endocrine and Diabetes fellowship program. He is also a member of the GCC Diabetes committee and the Ethical Review Committee at Dasman Diabetes Institute.
