Juma Al Kaabi is a Professor of Medicine at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University and Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs at the College of Medicine and Health Services. He also has a co-appointment as a Consultant Internist and Endocrinologist at Tawam Hospital and Al Ain Hospital. Dr. Al Kaabi is the Vice-President of the Emirates Diabetes Society (2016-2018) and the Founder and Member of the Board of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) Gulf Chapter (2012 to date). He was also elected as the President of the AACE Gulf Chapter for the year 2017-2018.
He obtained his basic medical science degree from the University of St. Andrews Scotland in 1990 and his medical degree from University of Manchester, England in 1993. He subsequently trained in internal medicine in the United Kingdom followed by clinical fellowship program in Endocrinology and Metabolism in Canada where he spent two years and a half at the University of Alberta as a clinical fellow at the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Dr. Al Kaabi is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (London and Edinburgh), the American College of Endocrinology, the American College of Physicians and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He is also a member of several other medical associations such as the Endocrine Society, the American Thyroid Association and the American Diabetes Association. Additionally, he is also a member of the National Diabetes Committee and a former Director of the Residency Training Program in Internal Medicine.
He is the recipient of many awards in education and service such as Abu Dhabi Medical Distinction Award in Medical Teaching (2011), Faculty of Medicine Distinguished Award in Education (2008) and Faculty of Medicine Distinguished Award in Service (2012).
Dr. Al Kaabi’s research interests include diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, obesity, osteoporosis and Vitamin D deficiency. He has over 100 publications as articles, abstracts and various participations at international meetings and organizer of many scientific conferences and meetings.
